It was very interesting to learn at the headquarter of In N Out burger flies the Gadsden flag.
Funny enough while america totes the freedom on the press, we too silently censored out our own history. The Gasdsen flag plays a keystone role of our country's history as the predecessor of the American flag before it was developed..
Oddly enough, flying such flag had been noted in some department of home land security documents as "extremists".
Does that make their burgers "EXTREME" ?
Where do I get an EXTEME soda to go with said burger? |

According to ANN, Viz is ending the fairly young Shojo Beat series.
I remember Shojo beat was just a starting project when I used to work at Viz. Also, it was that long ago when we were part of entourage of their 2nd Anniversary party.

At long last! Oneesan server migration has finally completed! Not much had changed cosmetic wise, this migration was as mentioned more a technical one. It's now at our new facility, and everything are now powered by renewable energy sources such as solar and hydro power plants. Zero carbon foot print! |

Who would have thunk.. Yen at 100 to 1 dollar ratio is a welcoming sight.
Useless factoid again, old exchange rate was around 350 yen to a buck for a great many year. Jokes about Japanese currency be worthless were plentiful, much of them involves literal toilet humor. |

Talk about haunting memories! Tonight, while was watching the news and changing into my PJ, I saw something that stopped me dead on my track. A commercial of New Kids On The Block concert tour.
For those who don't remember, or are too young to know. They were the 80's engineered boy band. They were not too special, pretty much the run of the mill canned production, but they have had their rabid fangirl (and a few "guys") followings. I used to have a friend named Katrina who were as rabid as can be, my girl friends and I used to tease her about her fandom. But it never gets too far as she was the tomboy of the group, and can easily kick all of our arses if she feels like it. I do missed these nostalgic times. I do missed my elementary and middle school friends. Especially Maria and Carolina, we were very close. We kept in touch till highschool, but we all sort of drifted away after we graduated. But I have digressed.
I am curious how father time had treated them since I'm sure they're no longer the boys they were. Now, also which cluster of fans will be attending? The fangirls who now grew up (I hope), or a new generation of cradle robbing? Either way, they're both kind of gross thoughts. |

I'm sure we're all been hit hard one way or another by tough circumstance. I've learn much in my last trip to Japan. While their business ethics are very strong, the practices are not that different than us americans. I am forced to wonder how Marui Group had been able sustain a positive revenue model throwing so many new and extremely expensive projects such as their Cool Japan project as well as the recent major remodeling. Only to go into reorganization every year.
The answer might be simpler than one might think. I have been monitoring their stocks ever since my first encounter their internal staff about a year and a half ago. I have been some what nervous since their stock had lost half of their high value, and continues to loose ground during our short 5 year boon. Now that we're in a global depression (yes, I used the D word), shares continue to plummet. As of posting, Marui group is at 415yen a share.. That might have explained such drastic reorg and churn rate internally. Is this Marui's last gasp?

This will be an extremely busy week for me. First and most complicated part is the Oneesan Inc. server migration. This includes many updates, as well as a physical move of the server from a norcal data center to socal. A stand in server is in place to pass out virtual leaflets..
Secondly is the Angelic Pretty reservation, as well as spring line up. The feedback is overwhelming. But for the most part it's just putting in the time of going over, and added inventory. If you happen to have suggestions of what might be popular, please let me know. I am however am aware that socks and general small accessories are in high demand. However, do let me know what other things might be of interest. |

As most of you who actually pay attention to what Im up to, this year's lolta event is now up and running. If not, you can check it out yourself at on the Oneesan website. BUT Tickets sales finally started. So many sleepless nights.
Even though I sound like I'm grumbling.I am happy. I hope the community realize how important it is for our community to participate and make this event success to to ensure our community is capable self sufficiency without the crutches of anime. In addition I have made this event extremely affordable without me being evicted by not able to pay rent. $65 with it is not too far away from going to a reputable tea room, and we would be entertained by 4 (yes, four) Japanese guests, and lots and lots of surprises I'm cooking up.
Also I've eliminated "bridge tolls" that other places called a membership badge. It is free for all to access the Angelic Pretty magical boutique, no strings attached. I always had a problem with events charging people to enter to buy things, what's up with that? I know events need to do whatever they can do drum up money for their operation and pay for the event space, but I always felt that is just double dipping since the dealer has to pay to set up shop. At least make the dealers room free. Attendee can use that money to buy more goods, making both the dealers and the attendee happy.
But to put really put things in perspective..
Last year: badge was typically $25 + 55 = $80. $25 just to shop.
This year: Free , Special event: $65 = $65

These days, Im actually very caught up with setting up the final touches to our last event.. But tonight there were considerable amount of distraction. With folks asking me about disaster preparedness. Most of it revolves around post Socal earthquake situation. Those few who knows me very well, also know as I am heavily involved with disaster preparations, and have been so far nearly a decade. It's sad that it has to take an event like this for people to have any concerns that life can be disrupted.
I hope this is not another temporary reactionary thing people are doing. preparation involves a lot of investments in time, money, thoughtfulness, and training. Yes, training. Being prepared is not simply buying salvation in a box. Or anticipate for only one type of perceived disaster that is temporary, and some how assume modern day conveniences, and social order still exists during those situations. In truth, noone knows what tomorrow brings.
There's a wealth of information as well as communities on the net regarding this topic.

神戸みゆき, the singer to the two first season of Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch had passed away at the age of 24. She was pronounced deceased on Jun 18th 2008 at 4:08am. Cause of death is a heart failure.
It is especially sad to remember that I barely experienced life went I was her age. Because of an incident similar to this, I've made a promise to experience, and bring experience.. Like the old saying, health is wealth. |
